Lucas Bonnici was drawn to acting from a young age, first captivated by the magic of a time-travelling DeLorean in Robert Zemeckis’ Back to the Future. An imaginative child with a tendency to disappear into characters and stories, Lucas was encouraged by his parents to explore a range of acting and modelling opportunities throughout his childhood. Those early experiences gave him his first understanding of what it meant to step into another character, work in front of an audience or camera, and tell a story beyond himself.

What began as childhood imagination gradually became something more significant. Acting offered Lucas the opportunity to inhabit lives far removed from his own and understand people from perspectives he may never otherwise have encountered. That curiosity remains central to the way he approaches performance today. His growing commitment eventually led Lucas to formal actor training at The Australian College of the Arts (Collarts), where his work across contemporary and classical performance further developed his understanding of character, collaboration and storytelling.

Drawing inspiration from Michael J. Fox’s comedic instinct, Leonardo DiCaprio’s transformative work and Tom Hanks’ humanity, Lucas aspires to build a career characterised by emotional honesty, versatility and a willingness to challenge expectations. He is particularly drawn to characters and stories that balance warmth and vulnerability with complexity, allowing performances to be both endearing and confronting.

His ambition is to contribute to stories that endure beyond their initial release – performances that audiences can discover, revisit and connect with for generations to come.
